June in December

This is a color key from my storyboard final. There were 5 total. I liked this one the most.

(Oh, and her name's June.)

Learning Gouache

So I've been teaching myself how to work in gouache. I'm using it in my landscape class because our teacher has been very lenient about letting us choose which media to work in. Awesome practice.

Fiddled around in the beginning just to get the hang of it.

Did these last week in class at Deukmejian Wilderness Park.

Did these yesterday for homework at LA Arboretum.

Already I can tell I've come a ways since my first gouache landscape (which you don't want to see, believe me). It's encouraging to know I'm improving :)

The LA Arboretum... an awesome place to go if you're in a landscape class like me. Admission is not as expensive as the Huntington Library's, and there's more garden and less art museum. Don't get me wrong, those art buildings at Huntington are awesome, but when the focus is plants, then you can't go wrong with a place that specializes in just that. :D

Here are some marker sketches from my landscape class. I'm pretty proud of them, seeing as how I almost never do just environments.

Apologies for the bad scanner quality. A lot of tones were lost.

For $20 I got a new USB cord. Here's some stuff I've done over summer.

JUST when I thought I'd be able to post some sketches for you guys, I can't find the USB cord to my printer/scanner D:

Freddy the Fish!

I figured I might try doing some Freddy designs if I ever make my poem into a children's book.

Warrior Falls

I can't stop seeing the person in the waterfall now that Jon and Mrs. Wong brought it up.

Environments are my weakness. Therefore, must do more. Sigh.

Took 20-30 min.

Photoshop Painting 101

After looking at a lot of paint demo videos and looking at dozens and dozens of amazing paintings online, I decided I really need to teach myself how to paint in Photoshop. I also need to nail painting traditionally, but when the only thing I have currently available is my laptop, I settled for the digital medium.

I did these sketches today (using reference for the last two) in an effort to the the hang of digipainting. Once I have my scanner, I can upload the pencil sketches I've been doing, but for now, it's only what's already on my lappy.

What do you think?

Played around with watercolors yesterday and drew in what I saw today.

Snazzy Jazz

Just doing some research for an illustration that'll use jazz piano as a motif...however that works, haha. I still have to figure it out. Don't forget--click to enlarge!

What? New blog?!

Hi all! I suppose this will be the start of my "professional" blog. My other site didn't let you click on my images, so I hope that will be fixed here. I won't be posting there anymore, but if you still want to check it out, it's here.

Thanks for visiting! I'll start posting new work as it comes.
